REVIEW: City Under Siege
City Under Siege
Author: R J Prescott
London
is a city in flames. Tensions are high and a critical situation is about to go
from bad to worse. The Prime Minister wants to send a message, and the SAS will
be the ones to deliver it.
Emotional detachment is my speciality. I’m ruthless and cut throat, but there is nobody better.
Sarah Tatem is an innocent. Caught up in a world in which she doesn’t belong, and trying desperately to do the right thing. My job is to keep her safe long enough to get what’s needed, and bring an end to this siege of terror.
But something has changed. I’ve learned that the only thing stronger than loyalty is love, and now she’s gone.
My name is Lieutenant Tom Harper, and I’m about to unleash hell.

MyReadulterylife Review
RJ Prescott has delivered, yet again. This book is different
to her previous books but still worth a read.
RJ Prescott does not show away from the ugly truth off today’s
society. This story will make you question if given the choice, could you make
a decision that would save millions of lives but may get you killed? How can
one civilian help millions?
We meet Sarah, having just inherited her families shipping business
and finding out they everything is not what they seem. Knowing that she is out of
her comfort zone, she turns to the British government and the finest SAS Soldiers
for help.
Lieutenant Tom Harper, is the leader off Team A, assigned to
MI5 and now Sarah’s personal bodyguard.
Without giving too much away in the story line, Tom and Sarah
battle to save millions of lives while falling in love.
Sarah is portrayed as a strong and brave person, able to
make decisions that could very well get her killed. Tom is your typical regimental
and focused soldier, who wants to get the job done but not at the expense of
his love.
‘He didn’t steal me away or hide me from the ugly truth
of what it was we had to do. He simply made me feel like I was no longer alone.
That in the dark, he was there with me.’
Prescott’s writing was detailed and sexy, with a slow burn
element making the story build for the explosive finale. The chemistry between
Sarah and Tom was not your typical full-on relationship, it had the believable evolution
from a simple caressing touch, a sharp intake of breath and the afterglow from Sarah and Tom's long awaited love making. The relationship between Sarah and Tom will leave breathless and rooting for them.
I loved that this book explores the family dynamics of both
a military family and the brotherhood between the soldiers. The detail and obvious
research is reflected in the realistic story line.
‘To say that the life of a military partner was hard was
an understatement of epic proportions. They were mothers and fathers, supports
and friends. The silent ranks with no uniforms or stripes. They weren’t saluted
or promoted or lauded or praised. They were the quiet strength. The lighthouses
in the darkest of storms, guiding their soldiers home.’
If your looking for a book that is different from your
typical romance book, a book that grip you and take you on a roller-coaster,
get this book.
