Review: Sordid by Ava Harrison

It was his lips.
The way his stare sent shivers down my spine.
The way his rough voice whispered my name.

So I caved.
I did what I knew I shouldn’t.

But as quickly as he’s there, he’s gone.
Leaving me confused.
Devastated.
I hope I’ll never see him again…

Then I do.

He’s my new boss.
And he has secrets.

Review

WOW!! I had forgotten how good Ava Harrison is. Her stories have a way of pulling the reading in. And she doesn’t fail to do this with Sordid.

Sordid is everything an angst romance should be. Forbidden romance at its best. Sexual tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. It is a tale of loss and gain, hope and sadness. It took my breathe away from the first page never relinquishing it till the last page.

We are introduced to Grant Lancaster, he is seen as the villain, a cold, selfish, arrogant man. But looks and attitudes can be deceiving. You can never tell what happens behind closed doors. This is the case for Grant. His true self, is one of a loving nature, a man who protects others at the cost of himself. He is a man fighting to gain control off his life, while balancing his need for Bridget.

Grant tries to fight the attraction he has for Bridget, but the heart wants what the heart wants. The question is, will Grant be willing to fight for what he wants, or will he accept what he is given?

Bridget is no doormat. Having spent most of her life living in the shadows off her sisters, she is ready to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight. She has a real back bone and doesn’t take kindly to Grant’s arrogant demeanour. I absolutely adored Bridget, I’m sure there will be readers who may not like the choices she makes when fighting for the man that she loves. Her flaws make her human. She has a resilience to her that I found enlightening.

The push and pull between the characters is passionate and powerful. You can feel the tension between them ready to explode at any minute. The build-up, the angst and the intensity to their story is conveyed beautifully by Ava. Sordid is a story off unconditional love. The idea that love can heal and soothe the soul, a love worth fighting for.
