My Readultery Life Review

Anything for You by Layla Hagen gave me those feelings of authentic romance, which I usually get from authors like Nora Roberts and Lisa Kleypas. There was the perfect mix of romance, HEA and a strong theme of the bond within a family. The storyline was fantastic and left me feeling satisfied and craving more from the Connor family, which I will have to wait for.

Landon Conner has built his company up from the bottom, after adjusting his dreams to look after his younger sibling when his parent died. He is tough, handsome and loves his family to bits. With the chance off a break from his busy schedule he heads home to spend this time with his siblings and their children.

I loved Landon’s character from the get go. The sacrifice that he and his sister do to ensure that their younger siblings are raised as a family, pulled at my heart strings, he is the ideal alpha male with a white knight complex. I only wish that there are more men like Landon’s character in todays world. He has the strength to make tough decision and loved with all his heart. Having closed himself off from relationships after the death of his wife, he certainly wasn’t expecting to go home and meet Maddie. But I’m so glad that he did. Once he realises what Maddie can give him in his life, he sets his mind to making sure that she remains in his life.

Maddie Jennings is the local landscape designer, working on Landon’s sisters garden when they first meet each other. Not shy from her own personal tragedies, Maddie is using these experiences to pusher herself further. She is a strong willed, independent woman.

I adored Maddie’s character, she complimented our hero extremely well. She is able to counterbalance Landon’s white knight complex and is able to open Landon’s eyes to the future, where love and acceptance can play a part.

As a couple, they have strong chemistry that burned the pages when it was ignited. I liked the fact that Layla built a friendship for them that then developed into something so much more. While I was impatient for them to get together, the build-up allowed for a more honest relationship. It was nice seeing how the characters evolved once they where together.

Ultimately, this is a romance story about two people who must learn to open their hearts and trust people again. Letting go off the past and the fear that comes with ‘what ifs’ and embracing the freedom that love can bring into their lives.

This is a fantastic book to start a new series with and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for the Conner Family.
